I don't need another project...at all. BUT Emily has such awesome scrappy quilts (here and here) that I've
It is called "More Favorite Traditional Quilts Made Easy" by Jo Parrott.
The two that I really want to make are her Geese in Flight, pg. 23
and Scrappy Rectangles, pg.39.
I'm starting with the rectangle project first.
I've been cutting rectangles out of my scrap stash and collecting them in a bin. After a fair amount I decided to go ahead and make one block to make sure it was what I really wanted to do.
This project will be ongoing for probably the rest of the year. No really. I'm not kidding. It takes 1620 rectangles to make 90 blocks. I don't yet have enough 2 x 3 1/2 inch rectangle scraps cut out and so for now........89 more blocks to go.
I'll keep you updated sporadically with my progress.
I'm glad you were able to put our fabric that we gave you to good use. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt's nice to not have the same fabric scraps that I've been looking at forever.
You're welcome Renae. Have an awesome week!
DeleteOoo ya, that will be a cool one when you are done. Remember, the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time...
ReplyDeletewow, those are are really wild quilts, but I love them. You and Em have way more patience than I have in doing all those little pieces of fabric together. By the way, in my reading this week, I learned that the word "patience" comes from a Latin word that means "to suffer". Just a little sidenote to remember when you're needing patience to put all those little rectangles together. Mom
ReplyDeleteSounds like a big undertaking, but its going to be worth it - square #1 is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think it will look great! And if you are expecting it to take a year, then I think you have the grumption to finish it. Keep us updated from time to time!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is going to be beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI started to make that 2 x 3 1/2 rectangles too It is a great way to use up scraps. I press each seam out as I sew it starting in the middle. Have 5 done goal 1 a day. ha.ha
ReplyDeleteJust started When I am sewing something I take the left over scraps and cut 2 x 3 1/2 rectangles I have 7 blocks sewed. They are fun to see how the different colors go together.
ReplyDeleteMuito lindo amei❤️,
