M. wanted the red version dress, with the blue length sleeves for her Christmas dress this year. We had to lengthen each layer about 2 inches each so that it would hit slightly below her knee. We also raised the neckline about 3 inches. I busted it out on Christmas Eve so that it would be ready to go for her. Unfortunately she then got sick during the wee hours after Christmas day and ended up not going to Church. She was not happy that she wasn't able to wear her "Christmas" dress on the day after Christmas.
However, she still got to wear it, albeit a week later. And it isn't so "Christmasy" that she can't wear it during other times of the year.
I love it. That's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabric did you use? Is it knit or could it be made with a "fancy" fabric?
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty!
Very, very cute!
ReplyDeleteI used knit--as that is what the pattern specifies. It just pulls over the top of your head. However, I think that you could use a different fabric, you would just have to adjust a bit and make sure you put a zipper in the back.
ReplyDeletegood job! Sewing with knits is not for weenies :)
ReplyDeleteThe dress turned out very nice. I like the length and the 3/4 sleeves. The layered skirt looks like it hangs and flows just right.
