I entered some of my quilts in a quilt show...

I got brave and entered some of my quilts in my town's local quilt show. No judging or anything, just showing. I live in a small town so I wasn't expecting much...

(This picture pretty much shows the whole thing!)

But imagine my surprise when the whole show consisted of about 10 big quilts (3 of which were mine) and 20 little quilts. It's kind of funny to me! I should've known.

Oh, well... I'm happy I did it anyway. Next year I'll try and convince my quilt club ladies to display some of their works, too. We could take over the whole show and call it "The Old Ladies and Emily Quilt Show!"

So, have you ever entered a quilt in a show? How did it go? I'd love to hear...

Can you spot my quilts? They are:
Scrappy Makes Me Happy
Cherry Chocolate Bento Box
And
Alumni Plain Spoken (aka Matt's Aggie Quilt)

  1. I enter a baby quilt every year in our local farm show. We have some pretty talented quilters in this area, so i never expect to win anything (being that I am pretty new to quilting). This is the 3rd year I have entered and havent won anything yet - i blame this year on being placed into the machine quilting category instead of the baby quilt category. heh heh.
I did win first place on my quilted chicken pin cushion though - i was awfully proud of that blue ribbon!

I also wanted to say that I have been enjoying your blog for a while now. I dont know if i have left a comment before, but I really do enjoy it. Keep it up! :)

  2. Hee - I entered my son's quilt into the local fair this year. There was only four in my category an I got 1st :). It took me nearly a year and I am extremely proud of it so it was still exciting. I am a geek.
    Thanks for the blog,
    Sherry

  5. I think one of these years I need to make an effort to head to our state fair and check out all the handiwork there. I'm sure it would be great to see.

  6. We have two very active quilt clubs in our county, which means we have a lot of very talents women! Every other year they put on a show (each club sponsoring it every other year). Next week is the county fair and it will be jammed packed with amazing quilts. Your quilts will rival with the best of them!

  7. Go you! I entered my second quilt in a competition at our local fabric store and won a Clover Mini-iron!: http://bellgirl.com.au/2010/05/im-very-lucky-bellgirl-this-week-not.html

I didn't think it would be good enough to be in a show, but I'm glad I did it, because people really liked it and it gave me a boost. You should definitely get some of your quilty mates to put in some quilts next year.
