A Rainbow Giveaway...Because Rainbows Are Supposed to Make You Happy

 **Updated** Winners have been chosen!

Don't get me wrong spring is a lovely time of year, but springtime can be a real downer at my house.  It's the time of year that my husband works long hours (kudos to all single mothers 'cuz I am lousy at it!), I start counting down the days 'til summer 'cuz I am sick of all things school related (getting up early, packing lunches, checking homework, signing reading calendars, etc),  and my allergies make life almost unbearable.

So in order to lighten my mood I've decided on a giveaway!  A random rainbow assortment of FQ's from my stash.

Aren't rainbows supposed to bring happiness?  As in, after the storm a rainbow appears?  Anyway, that's what I'm hoping.

For a chance to win just say whatever you are feeling, good or bad, I'll take whatever... latest projects, words of encouragement, thoughts on the end of the school year, funny jokes, allergy remedies, or your thoughts on rainbows.

A winner will be drawn sometime next week.

Chao!

P.S.  I started a massive clean-up of my sewing room today and I'm feeling better already! :)

  1. Am I really the first response? That's fine with me. What am I thinking? I can not WAIT to watch the Royal Wedding! Bring it!!!

  2. LOVE rainbows. I am feeling like a whirlwind swept over me that past 3 weeks. But that's okay cause in the end it will be all good.

So sorry about your hubby being gone so much. I've had those times too and it's not so fun. How old are your children, Emily?

  3. Right now I am feeling both happy and a little jipped, cuz my kid, who did NOT eat her dinner, just ate all of the chicken off my plate...
Lovely rainbow, hope it makes you happier!

  4. I am coming home from a 9 day trip and feeling very overwhelmed with all of the "stuff" that has piled up while I was away! Is it silly that I just want to forget it all, go to sleep, set my alarm for 2am and watch the Royal Wedding?

  6. I am in the midst of machine quilting a flower quilt and hoping that I don't break another needle! I love rainbows! I once made an artsy rainbow quilt. It was fun to make!

  7. Golly ~ right now, I am feeling overwhelmed! We will be graduating our 3rd child from home school Saturday, so along with all the busy-ness that goes with that, are the emotions (his, mine and his siblings...)
    Hang in there!

  8. I personally love spring! We live outside when it rains and thunders and hails too. It beats our winters! ; )
Allergies - definitely homeopathics. Spray for the nose, drops for the eyes. It beats getting stoned on antihistamines. Fenugreek is a great herb too. Totally safe - used in artificial maple flavoring.

Lovely fabrics! Count me in on the draw! ;)
I have draws too if you want to enter - it's my blog's birthday this week and i'm having a party.

  9. I agree! My fifth child is graduating this month. Ready to be done with high school obligations! Although, a little sad, too. My flowers are blooming which makes me smile, birds are singing.... spring is on it's way! gougeonathome@charter.net (Allison)

  15. I am having such a good Friday! Counting down to a week's vacation, the sun is finally shining after days and days of rain, and my dear friend told me this morning that after years of battling cancer, she's finally in remission. A great day!

  18. Rainbows. Rainbows are an age-old symbol of co-operation. The seven colours represent the seven principles of co-operation. I work for the Centre for the Study of Co-operatives at the University of Saskatchewan ... in the heart of the Canadian prairies where communities have long been built on co-operation.

Read about the symbol here and what the principles represented by each colour ... http://www.chf.bc.ca/pages/kidsflag.asp. Heart-warming principles, though I think they need updating so that the green includes "sustainability" and care for our environment, health and well-being or something along those lines.

I'm newish to quilting but have been toying with the idea of making a rainbow quilt to hang on one of our office walls. Maybe I should start, though, with rainbow mug rugs for my colleagues.

  19. Who doesn't love rainbows? My Sweetie comes home at 9:30 or 10 o'clock every night, leaves here at noon, and it sure does make for a long day! We have a fun tradition for Friday nights -- we have "sparkle lights" (those tiny clear lights on strings) around our ceiling in the livingroom, visible from the driveway. At dark on Friday night I plug in the sparkle lights -- the sign that the work week has come to and end, and it is time for fun!

  20. I once read a story about a drunk lady accosting Judy Garland in a restaurant bathroom. The woman grabbed Judy and mumbled incoherently about rainbows. Judy said "Yes, I have rainbows shining out of my a**." before walking out.

My Rx for an allergy induced migraine (I have one now) is a cup of strong coffee, an Advil Allergy/sinus pill (the kind you have to get from the pharmacist), and a chocolate bar. Heading for the vending machines now!

  21. Thanks for the rainbow giveaway just because.. When my allergy headache would get to migraine aura level, would drink the strongest coffee possible. Once I stopped eating aged cheddar cheese and processed meats high in nitrites, my disabling migraines stopped.

  22. Absolutely lovely fabrics! Hope your give away gives way to brighter days ahead for you.

  24. Fabric and crafts make me happy. I love coming home with the needed supplies for a project and looking at them in their "raw" form and knowing that I get to create something wonderful out of it. My current creations are teddy bears for a fundraising project I am involved in. I also have a stack of fabric waiting for 5 more yards of coordinating prints to join them for a quilt. Thank you for putting together your giveaway, contests also make me happy.

  25. sorry about your allergies :-( at least you still have your sewing machine...mine broke a few weeks ago so I'm crocheting, handsewing, and cutting out fabric ready for when I get a new one. summer will be here before we know it!

  26. I'm feeling content, but tired. I had a productive day - wore out the kids, made breakfast and a full dinner (a rarity for me), and mended four items in my mending pile.

  27. Hang in there, Em. There's a light at the end of the tunnel!

    Here's my joke:

A Red Sox fan, a Yankees fan, a Cardinals fan, and a Cubs fan are on a camping trip in the mountains. They are arguing over who is the most loyal fan of their respective team. At one point in the conversation the Red Sox fan gets up, shouts "this is for the Red Sox!!" and hurtles himself off a cliff to his death. The Yankees fan, not to be out-done, shouts "this is for the Yankees!!" and follows the Red Sox fan over the cliff to his doom. The Cardinals fan leaps to his feet, screams "this is for the Cardinals!!" and he pushes the Cubs fan over the cliff.

    Go Cards! :)

  28. Over the weekend I pieced a table runner using fabrics in a variety of sunny yellows and pale aquas. I hadn't used that combination before but found that just looking at it made me smile. Like a ray of sunshine for the table!

  29. Love the fabric!! :) I'm hoping May renews us all! I know I need it!

  32. I'm looking forward to this weekend because I get to watch my sister get her bachelor's degree after a long, hard uphill climb!! She has persevered through all sorts of trials but she stuck to it and now will be able to finally get her diploma. She's my hero.

  33. Allergies are horrible. I suffer year round. Being in Florida there is always something in bloom to make my head all stuffy. I use Nasonex and that seems to help with most of the allergens.

We homeschool and I am definitely ready for the school year to end. Some people might think that I am a horrible Mother for saying that but it's the reality. Some days I want to have fun and not worry about school too lol.

  34. I love rainbows too, That's why I am called the Peach Rainbow ;D
    Thanks for the chance!

  35. Oh, I could so use a rainbow....today is my son's birthday, and the only way I could hear his voice is to call his cell phone and listen to the greeting. :( He has not spoken to us in years, and I miss him so. I'm praying that God will soften his heart (and his wife's) and that they will come back to us. Rainbows are promises...I hang on to those. Those are lovely fabrics!

  36. A chuckle:
Last evening I asked my daughter (13) to put away the dishes so that I wouldn't have to look at them in the morning and then have to put them away. She gave me a little sass, so I said that putting them away in the morning might make me forget putting something in her lunch... like.... her lunch! hehehehe
